I adore precision and specificity in bodywork. Manual therapy can work miracles. But more than that, I love the transformation possible from being truly heard and met. Years ago an acupuncturist, during the intake assessment, walked behind my chair and put two fingers on the soft part of my shoulders. My whole body melted. His touch was so sincere. It conveyed both his fine-tuned expertise and his genuine curiosity for me as an individual, in that single moment. I strive for that with my clients.
I am not a mechanic. You are not a car. Your whole life is present when we work together. I will draw on all my technical practices–Deep Tissue, Feldenkrais movement, myofacial release, craniosacral therapy, reflexology–to bring you physical ease. But more importantly, your happiness with being alive is "on the table" for me.
For over 30 years, I have been working consciously with the body, including an early ballet career, yoga practice and teaching, and a B.A. in Conservation Biology from Oberlin. My lifelong dedication to joyful and expressive movement lends to my responsive approach to bodywork.
I began mytraining in Thailand with Thai massage, after living in a buddhist monastery and healing a near-fatal illness via meditation. Returning to the US I studied Deep Tissue/Swedish/Sport massage at McKinnon Institute and San Francisco School of Massage with Art Riggs, Certified Advanced Rolfer and CMT. I became a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner in 2007 under Russell Delman, to help people regain easy, efficient, and natural movement in all their lives’ activities. Craniosacral Therapy I began studying in Bali and continue ongoing here in Ca. It is my most recent exploration into Stillness and Internal Wisdom as the ultimate healer.
In practice since 2002, I have worked with a diverse clientele including triathletes, tech workers and business travelers, professional musicians and artists, pregnant women, construction workers and stroke patients. I work with chronic issues arising from auto-immune diseases and repetitive strains as well as acute accident injuries. Many clients have been seeing me long-term; building caring client-practitioner relationships based on mutual respect, trust, compassion, satisfaction and humor.
